Hook & Loom's Eco Commitment

  • The environment comes first. Hook & Loom searches out the most earth-friendly way to make rugs. They continually seek to lower their environmental impact and try to inspire others in the rug industry to do the same.
  • No dyes. Understanding that even green alternatives like vegetable dyes require chemicals and detergents, Hook & Loom uses no dyes. Their colorful cotton rugs are made using recycled fabrics...no dyes are added.
  • No chemicals. No chemicals of any kind are used in production of Hook & Loom rugs. No flame retardants, pesticides, harmful detergents...nothing!
  • No latex. Hook and Loom uses no latex in any of their products, so their rugs are even safe for those with latex allergies.
  • Safe for people. Earth-friendly means caring for air, water and soil...and also for people! To that end, Hook & Loom places a strong emphasis on a safe and fair working environment. "We respect our employees and their unique talents, and we will always treat them with compassion. Our employees (and employees of any of our partners) will be fairly paid and considerately managed. They are (and will always be) of legal age, and will never be bound by unfair work contracts."

Elegant, 100% Natural, Undyed Wool Rugs

The wonderful color variations in Hook & Loom's wool rugs are made by utilizing wool from sheep of different colors...there is no dye used at any stage of production. The rugs are hand-woven and the edges are serged (bound) by hand using matching yarn. This requires more effort, but it raises the quality of the rugs and fulfills their "no chemicals" and "no latex" rules. But the benefits don't end there...the rugs are also reversible. The subtle appearance shift of the inverted pattern means you get two rugs in one! This yields twice the wear between cleanings, which is better for the environment and easier for you. And the hand-bound edges lend a durable beauty to the rugs. These wool rugs live up to every facet of Hook & Loom's "beautiful, comfortable, durable, safe, earth-friendly" mission.

Hook & Loom's mission is to make beautiful, comfortable, durable, safe rugs without harming the earth.

Hook & Loom's Natural Undyed Wool rugs use only the color variations of natural breeds of sheep, carefully hand-woven into rich, refined patterns.

No glues, latex or other bonding agents are used to hold their rugs together...they are simply woven and bound using time-honored methods.

These unique rugs combine luxurious quality with a strong commitment to the Earth. We think that's the best of both worlds!

Undyed Natural Wool Rugs

Wool the way nature intended... Using the beautiful varied colors of natural breeds of sheep raised in India, Australia and New Zealand, Hook & Loom's 100% natural wool rugs are hand-woven in rich, refined patterns. They are hand-bound, reversible, and built to last. The scales on wool fibers hold onto dirt until it is vacuumed away, which helps the rug stay cleaner. And wool fibers absorb airborne pollutants, so wool rugs can actually help clean the air in your home! Plus wool is fire retardant, so no flame-proofing chemicals are needed.
