Black Berkey® Purification Elements are the industry leader in gravity-fed water purification, and they remove most every contaminant you will encounter (see list). These filter elements are installed in the upper chamber of Berkey systems, and can also be used to upgrade most other gravity-fed water filter systems. Two elements are included with all stainless steel Berkey systems except the Go Berkey®, which contains just one; and the Sport Berkey® bottle, which contains a smaller filter element. Here you can order extra filters to replace old ones, or add to larger systems to increase the flow rate. Each standard Black Berkey® Element is designed to purify approximately 3,000 gallons of water before replacement, and two elements in a Berkey system will purify approximately 6,000 gallons of water. The Sport Berkey® elements filter about 27 gallons of untreated water (160 refills); or 110 gallons of municipal tap water (640 refills). The filter elements are re-cleanable and self-sterilizing, and come with a 2-year, pro-rated warranty.
Berkey PF-2™ Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements remove fluoride (sodium fluoride, sodium fluorosilicate, fluorosilicic acid); Arsenic V and pre-oxidized Arsenic III; and other residual heavy metal ions. The housing is made from safe, non-leaching BPA-free polypropolene #5. The PF-2™ elements are designed to be used in conjunction with Black Berkey® Purification Elements only. They attach to the bottom of the Black Berkey® Purification Elements and sit in the lower chamber of the Berkey® unit. The number of Berkey PF-2™ Elements in the bottom chamber must match the number of Black Berkey® Purification Elements in the top chamber; for example, 4 Black Berkey® Purification Elements would require 4 PF-2 Filters. Set of two Berkey PF-2™ Elements need replacement after 1000 gallons of use and are covered by a six-month warranty.
Black Berkey® Purification Element for Sport Berkey® Portable Water Bottle is designed to remove or dramatically reduce toxic chemicals, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds, trihalomethanes, detergents, pesticides, herbicides, chlorides, pharmaceuticals, petroleum-based products, unpleasant tastes and odor, silt, sediment, chlorine and chloramines, just like the larger Black Berkey® Purification Element. Refill Capicity: Water from any source ~ 160 refillls; municipal/well water: 640 refills. Do not run hot water through filter.
