All of Dapwood’s beds come with a slatted wood surface to properly support heavy latex mattresses. The poplar slats are about 3/4″ x 2.5″ and are joined together with cotton webbing (photo shows pine slats, but they are now made of poplar). Standard spacing between slats is about 3″. Closer spacing of about 1.5″ or .25″ is available for an extra charge on this page. Tighter spacing is sometimes recommended for exuberant children and super-thick latex mattresses; but be sure to check with your mattress manufacturer before ordering because closer slats reduce airflow to the mattress, which can lead to mold and mildew.
