These moisture barriers from PureRest Organics are naturally water repellent, as the superfine organic wool fabric is tightly woven and slightly felted…no chemical treatments or plasticizers are applied. In addition to its water repellent properties, the moisture pad is resistant to dust mites, bacteria and mold, and is naturally flame retardant. It is held in place on your mattress with natural elastic corner straps.
The organic wool moisture pads can be machine-washed on delicate and line-dried, however they should not need frequent washing because wool does not harbor bacteria or mold. Airing, rather than washing, will help the wool retain its natural lanolin. Should the pad become less water repellent over time it can be re-lanolized using the process used on wool diaper covers. Covering with a quilted pad, thick towel or blanket is suggested to reduce chance of leakage.
