And because organic agriculture doesn't use toxic, persistent pesticides, choosing organic cotton is an easy way to help protect your family and generations to come.

Approximately 25% of all of the insecticides used in the world are applied to cotton, making conventional cotton farming one of agriculture’s most environmentally destructive activities since these toxins leach into waterways and find their way into animals, as well as our food and children. And the overall amount and intensity of chemical use per acre is increasing every year!

The $300-billion global cotton industry uses more pesticides and synthetic fertilizers than any other crop. Amazingly, it takes roughly one-third of a pound of chemicals (pesticides and fertilizers) to grow enough conventional cotton for just one T-shirt!

Seven of the top 15 pesticides used on cotton grown in the U.S. in the year 2000 are listed by the EPA as "possible," "likely," "probable," or "known" human carcinogens. Organic agriculture protects the health of people and the planet by reducing the use of toxic chemicals from synthetic pesticides and fertilizers that pollute the ground, air, water and food supply... toxins associated with serious health consequences including asthma, Alzheimer's disease, liver and kidney damage, reproductive disorders and a multitude of cancers, to name just a few.

Organic Cotton Sheets and Bedding

Long staple fibers = silky-soft and durable

Pure-Rest's organic cotton sheets are wonderfully soft and silky, rivaling many sheets with thread counts of 1000! They are carefully manufactured from hand-picked, long staple certified organic cotton grown in India, where cotton grows best. Hand picking yields fiber without dark specs, so no chemicals are needed to clean the fiber.

The organic cotton is expertly woven using a natural method that produces fabric that is sturdy, yet luxuriously smooth and soft to the touch. Unlike many sateen and percale sheets manufactured from shorter fibers, the long staple threads used in Pure-Rest's sateen and damask sheets produce a product that will last for years!

  • Fitted sheets have fully covered natural elastic and a deep 17" pocket.
  • Pillowcases and shams feature a European-style back opening for a fine, finished appearance.
  • Colored sheets are produced with low-impact environmental dyes.
  • White sheets are dioxin-free...bleached using hydrogen peroxide, not chlorine bleach.
  • Produced using fair labor, GOTS certified.
  • Cotton used in 280 thread count sheets is grown in the USA. 280TC and infant-size sheets are made in California. The cotton in 330TC and 300TC sheets is grown in India and these are sewn in India.
