Shipping Costs & Quotes
We offer free shipping on most items to locations in the continental USA (lower 48), but there are some products for which a shipping charge applies, primarily rugs and carpet. The shipping charge for these exceptions will appear during the check-out process. For carpet and rugs we will get a shipping quote and make an adjustment, if necessary, after you purchase. We will make every effort to contact you by email within one business day for approval if the actual cost is more than 10% higher than what you paid. Note that shipments during the holiday season (November and December for most carriers) sometimes incur seasonal surcharges.
Shipping is not easy to estimate and our system is occasionally incorrect. If your shipping cost seems too high, please contact us and we will issue a credit if the actual shipping cost turns out to be less than you paid. If the actual shipping cost is more than you paid, we will not charge you extra unless the cost is 10% higher, in which case we will ask for your approval of the extra expense prior to processing the additional charge. Please contact us for a shipping quote to locations outside the continental USA.
Availability & Shipping Times
Some items we offer are in stock for shipment within a few days, but many are made to order. Typical made-to-order leadtime should be listed on the product page; if not please contact us if your timing is critical. Note that there are sometimes delays during the December holiday season due to higher volume and supplier closures. Inventory levels and production backlogs change frequently, so we are unable to show specific availability on our website. If you would like to know of any possible delays before ordering, please contact us. Otherwise, we will inform you if an item is backordered as soon as possible after you place your order.
Delivery
Some products require a signature for delivery. If you will not be home on the delivery date, you can call the carrier with your tracking number to discuss delivery and pick-up options. For freight shipments to your home, the shipping company normally calls to make a delivery appointment. There will be some flexibility in scheduling, but if they need to store the items for more than a couple days, storage fees may be incurred, which will be billed to you.
Heavy and/or large items shipped to a residence will be delivered "curbside" unless otherwise noted. Heavy lifting will be required to move items from the truck/trailer to the curb, and/or to the home. Truck drivers are not required to help, and normally do not have equipment on hand to move large/heavy items, such as rolls of carpet. It is the customer’s responsibility to have the equipment and/or people necessary for unloading and moving carpet rolls into the house. The carpet may be too long to roll off the back of the truck; it might need to be picked up and carried. The unloading process will take place on the street, as close to the destination as possible. Re-scheduling fees and any extra charges incurred due to residential delivery issues are the sole responsibility of the customer. Carpet weighs about 5 to 6 pounds per square yard, so it's much easier (and less expensive) to have carpet delivered to a commercial location that the installer has access to, or to have the installer pick it up at the carrier's nearest shipping terminal.
Shipping Damage
You or your representative must inspect all packages upon receipt and make note of any damage to packaging or products on the shipping documents if you sign for the delivery, to enable us to file a claim for repair or replacement. If damage is not noted upon delivery and reported within three workdays, we may not be able to replace the damaged item. All damaged merchandise and packaging must be saved for inspection in case a freight claim becomes necessary. Damaged packaging does not always indicate that a product is damaged; and if the product can be easily cleaned it is not considered damaged. Refusing deliveries without prior authorization may incur fees and/or refunds may not be issued.
Returns
Many products cannot be returned; see product pages and/or our purchase agreement for details, or contact us before purchasing to find out whether the item is returnable. Any products you are authorized to return must be received unused, undamaged, and not laundered to be eligible for a refund. Shipping expenses and/or restocking fees may be deducted from refunds. Freight costs and any associated expenses for returning an item will be your responsibility unless return authorization is obtained from Organic and Healthy.
